You’ve just received a last-minute invite to a Halloween party, but you’re not sure what to dress as. Don’t panic! Neue has got you covered. We’ve compiled a list of costume ideas fit for an epic Halloween night (or any other fun gathering).
#1. If you’re into Spider-Man …
If you are looking forward to seeing the upcoming animation “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”, which is expected to be hitting cinemas in mid-December 2018 or if you are (warning! spoilers ahead) still mourning the (death?) of Spider-Man in “Avengers: Infinity War”, this is one costume idea you could consider. As you can see this can also be fun for the whole family. Well, just make sure everyone’s a fan of Spider-Man.
#2. If you’re a fan of … The Nun
While some may argue that “The Nun” MOVIE WASN’T THAT SCARY, there’s no denying that the demon’s MAKE-UP IS TERRIFYING. That said, be the life (not sure if this is an appropriate word to use in this context) of the party by showing up as the demonic nun.
“The Nun”, which premiered in cinemas last month (September 2018), is a prequel to “The Conjuring 2”. It takes place in 1952, and tells the story of a nun and a priest who are investigating a suicide in Romania.
#3. If you want to save the Galaxy …
Get ready to travel the galaxy in style by dressing up as one of “Guardians of the Galaxy”. You could be the Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot or Rocket. The sequel “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” proved to be a hit, hitting US$800 million at the worldwide box office after less than a month in theatres. According to a report, it had surpassed the total domestic, international, and worldwide grosses of the 2014 original, “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
#4. If you’re an ‘Incredible’ family …
Why not dress up as everyone’s favourite family of superheroes? The “Incredibles 2”, which was released in June 2018, proved to be a hit, which according to a report, crossed the US$1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, making it the fourth film in 2018 to reach the milestone, behind Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
#5. If you’re a fan of … Venom
Be sure to make heads turn when you show up at your Halloween party in this get-up. If you are having difficulty finding a Venom costume, you could find something black to wear. However, the most important part of looking like Venom is the make-up you apply on your face. As you can see from the video above, this will not be an easy feat. Perhaps you could get a professional make up artist to help you with this task.

#6. If you’re a fan of … Freddy Krueger or Jason
Freddy Krueger, which is a character from the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” film series, is highly recognisable everywhere he goes. Due to the severe burns on his body, his style can be recreated by anyone. Even if you choose to skip the mask and just wear his trademark outfit (red-and-black striped sweater), everyone would still know who you are. The most important part of this costume would obviously have to be his knife glove. Oh! And don’t forget to wear a hat!
The Freddy character first appeared in “Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street” (1984) as a burnt serial killer who uses a gloved hand with razors to kill his victims in their dreams, causing their deaths in the real world as well. In the dream world, he is a powerful force and almost completely invulnerable. However, whenever Freddy is pulled into the real world, he has normal human vulnerabilities.
However, if you do not fancy dressing up as Freddy … you could always opt to show up as Jason Voorhees, the main character from the “Friday the 13th” series. He first appeared in “Friday the 13th” (1980) as the young son of camp cook-turned-killer Mrs Voorhees.
Freddy and Jason are regarded as having the ultimate all-out horror brawls of all time. After all, they faced each other off in the 2003 film “Freddy vs Jason”, which is a spin-off crossover between “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Friday the 13th” series.
#7. If you’re a fan of … The Nightmare Before Christmas
The movie, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (also known as Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas) is a 1993 American stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy film. It tells the story of Jack Skellington, the King of “Halloween Town” who stumbles through a portal to “Christmas Town” and decides to celebrate the holiday, with some dastardly and comical consequences.
“The Nightmare Before Christmas” turned 25 this year (2018) – that’s a quarter of a century ago! (Feeling old yet?) Regardless, wearing a costume portraying any of the film’s characters will always be timeless. However, take note that this will not be an overnight job. It will require a fair bit of time getting your outfit done at the tailors. If you do not have enough time to prepare this costume for 2018, perhaps you could get a head start (say a year’s time) preparing for Halloween 2019?
#8. If you’re a fan of … Hopping Chinese Vampires
Don’t you find Chinese vampires fascinating? After all, they hop … a lot! So why not hop into your next Halloween party in this get-up? The important thing to do here is … Yep! You guessed it right! You have to hop with your arms facing forward.
According to a report, the hopping vampires are otherwise know as ‘jiang shi’. They are a type of undead creature found in Chinese folklore. Although its Chinese name is often translated as ‘Chinese hopping vampire / zombie / ghost), its literal meaning is ‘stiff corpse’. These creatures may be identified by their attire – the uniform of a Qing Dynasty official. Additionally, the ‘jiang shi’ is recognisable by its posture and movement. The arms of these creatures are permanently outstretched, apparently due to rigor mortis (postmortem rigidity), and they hop, rather than walk.
#9. If you’re a fan of … Halloween’s Michael Myers
Why not dress up as Michael Myers? After all, it wouldn’t be Halloween without the masked killer of the horror movie franchise.
“Halloween”, which premiered earlier this month (October 2018), has been confirmed to be the biggest horror movie opening with a female lead, the second-biggest October movie opening (the first belonging to Venom). It i also the biggest movie opening featuring a female lead over the age of 55. According to a report, if you count all movies featuring a lead over the age of 55, “Halloween” is only behind Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which made $100 million in 2008, when Harrison Ford was 65.
#10. If you’re not afraid of clowns …
The “It” movie (2017) is a new adaptation of the 1986 novel of the same name by Stephen King.
The supernatural horror film is set in the summer of 1989 and tells the story of seven children in Derry, Maine, who are terrorised by an ancient demonic entity with the ability to shape-shift among others, and Pennywise the Dancing Clown is It’s preferred shape because that way It can prey on kids easily.
And if you’re wondering how scary this costume can be, well, take a look at the video below courtesy of TheEllenShow:
Ellen DeGeneres pointed out how US rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs tried to play off his fear by dancing.
“You dance when you get scared. I like it,” the talk show host of ‘The Ellen Show’ joked.
However, Diddy was not impressed, telling Ellen that she had “affected his street cred” with that terrifying prank.
