“I’d sell the car for some quick cash!”
This was what I thought to myself as I made my way to the Chevrolet Showroom in Beribi for a lucky draw last Friday morning.
I’m sure that’s what most people would have done.
The grand prize winner of the January 25 “Chevy Lucky Draw” would drive home brand new 1.4 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan, while 9 other consolation prize winners received cash prizes.
As the names of the consolation prize winners were drawn that Friday morning, I could not help but ask my circle of friends what would be the first thing they’d do if they won a car.
I could tell that some of my contacts were fans of the MTV show “Pimp My Ride” (2004-2007) that was hosted by rapper ‘Xzibit’.
Why, you ask? Well, one of the most absurd suggestions involved fitting the car with mud flaps with LCD screens.
I was forwarded the photo above of a car that had 7-inch monitors installed into custom mud flaps. (Photo courtesy of MTV)
Was it weird and utterly useless? You bet!
But was it a cool suggestion? I’m ashamed to admit, but … yes!
Other responses included “getting cool sports rims”, “treating the car with glass coating protection” and “showing it off!”.
However, we here at Neue were more interested in what the grand prize winner, Dk Nuraslinda binti Pg Sahiful Isra, had to say.
In a clearly cheerful tone, Dk Nuraslinda said she felt truly blessed to have been picked as the winner.
She was among those who had been waiting for five months for the conclusion of the ‘Get a Great Offer with Chevy’ Lucky Draw promotion. A few months ago, she had purchased a Chevrolet vehicle that entitled her an entry for the draw.
“That’s the salesman who I bought my ‘lucky’ car from,” Dk Nuraslinda said as she gestured towards a cheerful looking car sales representative named John Ong.
John, who has been selling cars for the last 28 years, told Neue that many of his past customers have lucky – some winning themselves cool prizes such as iPods and iPads.
I could tell that John was beaming with joy, seeing how happy his customer was to have won a brand new car.
So as far as he was concerned, seeing his customer happy was rewarding itself.
I was moved by what Dk Nuraslinda said she would do with her new car.
“It’ll be for my husband,” she said, adding that she already has a few Chevrolet vehicles at home and that she has been a long time supporter of the car brand.
According to GHK Motors, the lucky draw promotion was to thank all its valued customers for their continued support all these years.
Before leaving the show room, I could not help but ask for a name card from the “lucky” car salesman John. I will keep his contact handy the next time I decide to buy a new car. Who knows? Perhaps Lady Luck will smile on me in future lucky draws organised by any of the car dealerships under GHK Motors.
For those interested, John can be reached via +6738640083 (mobile) or have a chat with any of the friendly car sales representatives at the Chevrolet Showroom located at Sumbangsih Bahagia in Beribi.
