We here at Neue believe that every person out there has a story to tell.
This week, we find out What’s Neue with Sheila Lim (@sheilsworld), a part-time model who strongly identifies as an introverted extrovert. (Photo at top of page courtesy of @bunnyboo83)
“I get my energy being around other people, whether that be a group of people or just one other person. I need to get my fix of talking to someone or I’d slowly go insane,” she said.
However, she admits that there are times when she doesn’t feel like hanging out with anyone and would instead prefer just chilling on her own.
She confesses that she cannot live without milk tea. After all, milk tea is bae (says everyone … if not, which century are you from?!)
“Stop chasing success. Seek significance.” This is what Sheila lives by.
“I’m an ambitious soul and I believe in devoting my life passionately into people, dreams and desires so that when I look back in the future, I’m able to be a living example to those around me that life is much more than just putting efforts for the ‘now’ as it affects how you are going to be in the future,” she told Neue.

Without further ado, let’s see how Sheila tackles this week’s #Neue9to5 questions.
The First 9 Questions
1. What is your best childhood memory?
Perhaps the best childhood memory I had was playing outdoor games with other kids.
We would be playing games like Tamagotchi (handheld virtual pet game), tag, hide and seek, hopscotch, skipping, etc.
There were no worries, no burden, no pressure, just plain old innocent fun.
Sometimes I wish I was a kid again 🙂
2. If you could only keep 3 possessions, what would they be?
(i) Handphone
Who can live without phone these days, right? Personally, having a phone around me makes me feel safer. If I ran into an emergency, it’d be easy for me to get in touch with anyone on my contact list whenever, wherever.
(ii) Car
A car speaks freedom to me. Being the outgoing person I am, having a car ensures that I am not caged. Without it, I wouldn’t be able to “fly” in exploration anytime I want.
(iii) Hand lotion
Well I chose this not only as a substitute for perfume but it actually shows who I am as a person.
I like to smell good which means presenting myself well and of course to moisturise my hands throughout the day as our hands are much more exposed to damage from carrying out everyday tasks at home, at work, etc.
3. What teacher in school made the most impact on you and why?
That would have to be the teacher who taught me biology in high school.
During my first 3 years of high school, I was always failing my biology exams.
The following year, that same biology teacher told me that my grades were slipping because I was hanging out with the wrong crowd of friends.
From then on, I pushed myself hard to be among the top 5 in class just so I could prove my teacher wrong … that my friends weren’t the reason for my failing grades!
4. What does a relaxing weekend look like to you?
Outdoor activities! I’m pretty much an outdoor person and likes a fun-filled weekend.
Tanning at the beach is always my go-to plan as well as pampering myself like going to the salon.
There are some weekends when my friends and I plan certain activities together just to bond. And sometimes, I like to stay at home … but that’s very rare!
5. When you are old, what do you think your children will ask you to tell stories about?
I’d like to think that my children would ask me about how the world was like when I was little, the mistakes I’ve made, the adventures I’ve had, the risks I’ve taken, the people I’ve loved and the fights I’ve fought.
6. What’s your favourite food? And where can you get it in Brunei? What’s so special about it?
There are few but if I had to choose, I’ll pick sushi!
I get my fix at Excapade Sushi.
Because whenever I step foot into the restaurant (especially Gadong branch), I feel the connection I had whilst growing up eating at Excapade and the memories made in this place.
7. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you? Why?
Losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you!
Because when a good friend moves away, the bond isn’t broken but losing touch means that our time spent and memories created will always be missed.
8. What stories from Neue’s website peaked your interest?
Those dealing with bullying! I feel that most people can relate to this due to personal experiences and the fact that Neue touched on this topic shows the increasing awareness of the reality and consequences of bullying.
9. What would you like to say to all our readers? Do you have any words or inspiration or a life story you’d like to share?
If this is what you WANT, this is what you DO.
If this what you DO, this is what you GET.
If you want something to happen, make it happen.
You are the master of your destiny.
God will make a way when there seems to be no way. Faith above everything!
The Last 5 Questions
1. If you could time travel, you would … ?
I would go 50 years from now into the future and ask how the futuristic transportation and the new technology works. Then I would take all this information and start on my own so I can be the pioneer.
2. What’s your favourite cheesy pick-up line?
Girl: What do you want to eat?
Guy: You!
Girl: (roll eyes) Can you be serious?
Guy: Okay! I have a favour to ask if you’re okay with it.
Girl: What is it?
Guy: Love me back!
Girl: When can you be serious ah?
Guy: After we get married.
The above conversation was inspired by my lame boyfriend before we got together 🙂
3. If you could marry a fictional character, who would it be and why?
Captain America … just because he is HOT! Lol!
Why? Because he would put his life on the line for anyone.
4. Netflix or YouTube?
Netflix all day err day!
And my go-to show would have to be “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before”. It helps me reminisce about my high school years when I learnt how to face the fears and dared to love. You can check out the trailer of the show below:
5. Would you rather have Batman’s skills, money, equipment and lifestyle or end crime around the world for good but be poor and unnoticed?
