Matcha has been gaining popularity and rightly so. Some may not be fans due to its bitter taste and some even due to the smell it gives off. However, matcha has proven to have major health benefits for our body and is another way for you to get a caffeine kick that’s not as strong as coffee but gives you twice the energy from coffee!

Matcha waiting for? Here are the top places we recommend for you to try.

1. Matcha Mana

If you’re craving for high-grade matcha like the ones you had in Japan, Matcha Mana is the place to go. Matcha Mana is one of the only few cafes that specialise in ceremonial grade matcha in Brunei. They have a variety of matcha drinks for you to try. You can start with the Matcha Tarik if you are a first-time matcha drinker. It is familiar and a local take on the Teh Tarik, but with a more potent matcha taste.

P.S. If you want their Matcha flavoured pastries, go on Wednesdays!

Part of the Chatramue Latte series, their Premium Matcha Latte is definitely indulgent. It lives up to its name of being premium. This is the go-to drink for a quick matcha pick-me-up.

3. Black Whale

Black Sugar Shizuoka Matcha Latte

Out of all the matcha bobas we have in Brunei, Black Whale’s is the most potent. It pairs well with the black sugar boba which offsets the bitterness from the matcha. We definitely recommend you to get the large if you’re a big matcha fan.

4. Little Audreys

Burnt Matcha Cheesecake

Featuring in our list again and the only dessert entry for this list, their Burnt Matcha Cheesecake is crazy delicious. The soft centre is mousse-like in texture and the edges are burnt into a golden soft crust. If you do get it to go, best you pair it with fresh fruits!
